Meet Tricia Telesford
Tricia Telesford is the dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist and the heart behind Work of Heart Speech and Language Services.
From a very young age, Tricia knew her professional journey would involve working with children. It was during her undergraduate studies that her focus shifted from psychology to the profound field of speech-language pathology. For Tricia, communication is the very essence of what it means to be human, to forge connections, and to thrive within our communities. Her greatest joy comes from helping children discover their voices, empowering them to express their wants and needs, and witnessing them confidently engage with their loved ones, classmates, and neighbours. This deep-seated passion truly makes her work a "Work of Heart."
With over 20 years of experience specializing in preschool and school-aged children and their families, Tricia has built a robust foundation in her field. Her career began with many enriching years at a children’s treatment centre and as a vital part of a multidisciplinary team within a hospital outpatient program. These invaluable experiences paved the way for her to establish her own practice five years ago, culminating in the compassionate services offered by Work of Heart Speech and Language Services today.
Tricia holds a Master of Health Sciences degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Toronto and is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist. She is proudly registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and a member of Speech Language and Audiology Canada (SAC). Her commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by her extensive professional development, including specialized training in highly regarded programs such as Hanen, PROMPT, Auditory Verbal Therapy, and Social Thinking.
Tricia's therapy philosophy is clear: therapy should be both functional and fun! She firmly believes that children learn to communicate best when they are genuinely engaged and attentive through play, which allows their communication skills to truly blossom. She meticulously tailors her approach to each child and family's unique needs, ensuring every session is a meaningful step towards communication success.
Clients often describe Tricia as calm and easy-going, qualities she believes are fundamental to creating a comforting, trusting, and effective therapeutic environment. Outside of her dedicated work, Tricia cherishes spending time with her family, including her two wonderful children and their beloved chocolate lab, Yoko. She also enjoys pursuing her passions for travel, fitness, yoga, and nurturing her garden during the summer months.
Tricia looks forward to partnering with your family and helping your child embark on the journey to clear and confident communication.
